Loss Of A Black Icon.

As black icons go they don’t come much bigger than John Singleton. Today across the globe, from the USA, U.K, Caribbean and Africa, black people will mourn the loss of this inspirational, maverick film director.Singleton, best known for directing; Boyz n the Hood 1991, Poetic Justice 1993,     Baby boy 2001, 2 Fast 2 Furious 2003, Higher Learning 1995, Four Brothers 2005, Shaft 2000, and Abduction 2011 suffered a stroke 2 weeks ago and was taken off life support yesterday.

Not only has the world off film lost a creative, prolific film maker of exceptional calibre, but the black community has lost a voice, a source / conduit through which the joy and pains, often misrepresented by other directors, has been truly and accurately portrayed, documented and immortalised on film for generations to come.
